AI quiz generator · bring your own AI

An AI pub quiz generator that hands you a show.

Most AI quiz generators stop at a list of questions in a text box. Quiz Master lets the AI you already use — Claude, ChatGPT — write straight into a real show: rounds, answer reveals, picture and music rounds, a presenter theme. Then you, the host, fact-check it, rehearse it and present it.

Updated

The difference

A generator that hands you a show, not a list.

Twenty questions in a chat window is a starting point. You still have to build the slides, hide the answers, find the pictures and work out what goes on screen when. That part is the evening's actual work — and it's the part Quiz Master gives the AI somewhere to put.

  • A timeline, not a document

Welcome, round intros, rounds, answer reveals, a break, final scores — in the order the night runs, ready to click through.

  • Answers that stay hidden

Each question knows its own answer and shows it at the reveal, not on the slide where teams are still writing.

  • Pictures and music in place

Images and audio are copied into your Quiz Master storage; YouTube clips go on the question with their in and out points.

  • A look for the night

It can pick one of ten presenter themes, from game-show board to chalkboard. You can change it per event later.

  • Questions you keep

Everything it writes lands in your own tagged question library, ready to reuse next month — by you or by the AI.

A multiple-choice question on the Marquee presenter theme: which of these is the longest river — Amazon, Nile, Yangtze or Mississippi — with a river photo above the options.
A picture question on the Marquee theme. Nile or Amazon? Sources still argue about it — exactly the kind of answer to check before the night.

How it works

Connect, ask, rehearse.

  1. 1

    Connect once

Add Quiz Master as a connector in your assistant and sign in with your Quiz Master account. One URL, no API key. Step-by-step for Claude and ChatGPT, or the connector overview.

  2. 2

    Ask for a night

Describe the quiz the way you'd brief a co-host: rounds, theme, difficulty, the crowd. It writes the questions into your library and lays out the timeline. Stuck for a brief? Borrow one from the prompt library.

  3. 3

    Rehearse and present

Open the quiz in the builder, fix what needs fixing, click through it in preview, then present it fullscreen while the control panel stays on your laptop.

What it can write

More than "what is the capital of…".

The AI writes against the same typed question model the builder uses, so every format below is available to it — and comes back as a proper question, not a line of text.

  • Short answer

One right answer, with accepted alternative spellings.

  • Multiple choice

A handful of options, one of them right — the classic.

  • True or false

Quick fire, good for a warm-up round.

  • Numeric

Years, distances, prices — with a unit and an optional tolerance, or closest-wins.

  • Ordering

Put these in order, revealed one step at a time.

  • Multi-part

Several answers under one question, points per part.

  • List

Name any five, or the top eight in order — nothing shown until the reveal.

  • Matching

Bands to debut albums; the right-hand column is shuffled for the room.

  • Multi-select

Pick the three correct options out of six.

Around the questions

  • Clue stages

Progressive hints before the question — one clip, then another, then the guess.

  • Sub-questions

Three songs under one music question, each asked and revealed in turn, each scored on its own.

  • Media and YouTube

Picture questions, audio clips and YouTube videos — or a YouTube clip played audio-only, with the video kept as the reveal.

  • Two languages

Every text field can carry German and English at once; switch the room’s language live or show a subtitle line.

The honest part

Keep a human on the mic.

Language models are fluent, fast and sometimes confidently wrong. A wrong answer read out to a full pub costs you more than the time it saved. Quiz Master is built for a host who checks the work — here's the pass we'd recommend before every night.

  1. 01

Check every answer, not just the odd-looking ones

Ask the AI to put its source in each question’s host notes — the room never sees them — and spot-check against it. Dates, records and “the longest/biggest/first” questions are where models slip most.

  2. 02

    Read the questions out loud

A question that reads fine can still have two defensible answers. If a team could argue, tighten the wording or add the alternative spelling.

  3. 03

    Balance the difficulty

Every question carries an easy, medium or hard tag. Make sure each round has something for the back table, and something to separate the top two.

  4. 04

    Make it about your room

The AI doesn’t know your regulars, your street or last month’s running joke. A local round written by you is often the best one of the night.

  5. 05

    Play every clip in preview

Links break and videos get taken down. Click through the whole quiz in preview before the night, with the sound on.

Why bring your own

The model you trust, on your terms.

There's no AI baked into Quiz Master to prompt. We expose your quizzes and your library as tools; the thinking happens in the assistant you already use.

No AI add-on

Connecting costs nothing extra on Quiz Master’s side. The model runs on the Claude or ChatGPT account you already have, under that provider’s plan.

Use the model you trust

Whichever assistant you already rely on for research, keep using it. Anything that speaks the Model Context Protocol can connect.

Your data stays in your account

The connector only reaches the signed-in host’s quizzes and library. It can create and edit, but it cannot delete a quiz or a question.

No API key

You sign in on Quiz Master’s own page with your existing account. There is no key to generate, paste or leak.

Side by side

Two approaches to the same Thursday. Same AI underneath — the difference is where its work ends up.

Questions

Asked before the first round.

Does it cost extra?

Not on Quiz Master’s side — there is no AI add-on to buy. The AI runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT account, under that provider’s plan. On claude.ai, Free accounts get one custom connector at the time of writing; in ChatGPT, write access depends on your plan.

Which AI assistants work?

Anything that speaks the Model Context Protocol and can add a remote connector: Claude on the web, Claude Desktop, Claude Code and ChatGPT among them. The setup guides cover each one.

Can it do music and picture rounds?

Yes. It can copy images and audio into your Quiz Master storage and put YouTube clips on a question, with start and end points. How good the picks are depends on what your assistant can find, so play every clip in preview.

Can it write in German, or both languages at once?

Yes. Every text field can hold several languages, so one question carries German and English together. On the night you switch the room’s language live, or show the second language as a subtitle line under each question.

Can the AI delete my quizzes or questions?

No. There are no destructive tools. It can rearrange a timeline or take a question out of a round, but the question stays in your library and no quiz can be deleted through the connector.

Can I edit what it wrote?

Everything. It’s an ordinary quiz in the builder: click a headline to change it, reorder rounds, swap questions. Fix a question once and every quiz that uses it gets the fix.

Do players need an app or phones?

No. Teams write answers on paper, the way a pub quiz should go, and you score them in Quiz Master — half points included.

Let the AI write it. You run the room.

Connect the assistant you already use, ask for a night, then check it, rehearse it and take the mic.
